Demystifying Hospice and Palliative Care
In this webinar we will discuss the difference between palliative Care and hospice care. Participants will learn the definitions of palliative and hospice care, the benefits of each service, who is eligible for these services under Medicare and other insurances and what specific services are provided under each benefit.
Intended Audience: Guardians with clients in Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing, or living at Home, that need extra support.
Presenter: Sarah Young
Sarah Young is an Occupational Therapist by background and has worked in both acute and skilled nursing settings. Her primary focus in her career has been working with the geriatric population specifically patients with dementia, cancer, Parkinson’s and other neurological diseases. Sarah’s passion for working with these individuals led her down the path as a Hospice Liaison. In Hospice, she’s worked closely with patients, families and community partners to explain the hospice benefit and its impact on individuals. She has delivered many education sessions highlighting the differences between palliative services, hospice services and how to identify who is appropriate for this comfort-focused care.
