Artificial intelligence is quickly becoming part of everyday professional practice, offering guardians new ways to manage information, organize cases, draft routine communications, and complete time-consuming administrative tasks. This one-hour webinar will introduce practical uses of AI for professional guardians, public guardianship administrators, family guardians, and individuals who are new to the field. Participants will explore how AI may assist with client and case management, annual reports, documentation of significant life changes, meeting preparation, and the development of clear, professional correspondence, while recognizing that guardians remain responsible for every decision and document produced.
The session will also address the ethical, and privacy risks associated with AI use in guardianship. Through realistic guardianship examples, the webinar will provide a practical framework for reviewing AI-generated content, protecting the privacy and dignity of the person under guardianship, reducing bias and errors, and determining when AI is helpful, when additional safeguards are needed, and when it should not be used.
Participants will learn to:
- Identify practical ways AI can support guardianship work, including case management, annual reporting, documentation, and professional communication.
- Recognize privacy, confidentiality, accuracy, bias, and compliance risks when using AI with health, financial, legal, or other protected information.
- Apply a responsible-use framework to review AI-generated content, protect the rights and dignity of the person under guardianship, and determine when AI should or should not be used.

Presenter: Joe La Belle
Joe La Belle is a pioneering figure at the intersection of AI and education, serving as the Director of Programs Impact at Family Network on Disabilities. In Florida, he oversees four key programs and lends his expertise to OSEP-funded Technical Assistance centers, enhancing support for students with disabilities through technology.
Notably, Joe has played a crucial role in advocating for AI's role in education, engaging with the Secretary of Education, presenting to the US Department of Education staff, and sharing insights nationwide. His efforts focus on how AI can personalize learning and increase accessibility, making him a respected voice in the field.
In addition to his professional achievements, Joe is a celebrated speaker and coach, drawing on his personal experiences with ADHD and learning disabilities to inspire change and advocate for inclusive educational practices.
